All you can really do is try to make updates to web pages that emphasis important keywords:

Of course, the other basics are to work on inbound links from Authority websites like your local Chamber of Commerce, Visitor Info Centre, ATDW, as well as locality websites like Yelp.com.au, Aussieweb.com.au, Hotfrog, Truelocal and others.

Countryman Motel uses BurgungySky as their website CMS. There are some limitaions with this system in that you do not have the option to use search engine friendly urls, but so far that has not stopped most websites from ranking well.

Accommodation in OakleighLamplighter Motel in Melbourne’s Eastern Suburb of Oakleigh had their old website hacked and needed a quick solution to restore their Internet presence as well as provide a fresh and updated look that matched the motel’s new style.

The owners are Chinese and for fun we looked to see what Feng Shui might suggest for web site design and found some surprisingly nice colour combinations that proved to be interesting and attractive.

Feng Shui lucky colors for the Year of the Snake are Blues, Orange and Gold.

Located in Melbourne and part of the Golden Chain Motels group; Lamplighter Motel offers motel-style accommodation as well as serviced apartments. They also have a restaurant providing breakfast and dinner.

Melbourne Motel Website Gets a Updated

Hume Villa Motor Inn in Fawkner Victoria recently asked us to make a new website and help them get better search rankings for guests looking for accommodation in Melbourne and accommodation near Melbourne Airport.

Motel in Melbourne near the AirportHume Villa is a Member of Golden Chain Motels. They decided they would use the Online Booking systems provided by Golden Chain to Members. Our website design will easily include booking systems from many suppliers: SiteMinder, ResOnline, and others.

Great pictures are always important to making a good looking accommodation website. David Murphy, Hume Villa’s manager was able to provide a good selection of room type images that make it easy for guests to see what is on offer and pick the best accommodation for their needs. This is important because whenever you review your website stats you will always see high traffic for your rooms page. Pretty obvious when you think about it.

Using Blog Posts to Attract Visitors to Your Website

When I was visiting the motel last month, I showed David how easy it is to make a post to the blog about any subject. Blog Posts are an excellent way to attract visitors to your website on topics that relate to basic themes that bring customers to your motel. I asked David what he thought attracted people to accommodation in Fawkner and he said they got a lot of guests coming to events at The Meadows Greyhound Racing which is a popular venue for Conferences and Functions in North Melbourne. We added the post and then Googled the subject and found the new post on the first page of Google with a comment saying the page had been added 57 seconds ago.

In a perfect world, David would not set a reminder and add a new post at least once in 2 weeks. He could add posts about local events, visiting Melbourne, accommodation near the airport, and more. This stream of new information would make his website more interesting to Google for Search Engine results as well as providing his guests more info about staying in Fawkner and Melbourne.

New Website for Comfort Inn Maryborough Motel

Well, we’ve had a few Comfort Inns asking about website design this quarter which is good – a sign that things are picking up in the accommodation industry. Today we switched on the new website for Blue Shades Motel in Maryborough QLD.

Why Should a Choice Hotel have their Own Website?

As a Member of Choice Hotels these accommodation providers have a lot of services provided for them from the group. I’m sure the Comfort Inn head office would suggest that motels don’t need anything else, but really every business needs a dedicated website.

Advantages of a Dedicated Motel Website for a Member of a Chain:

  • Emails if nothing else. With a website you have a professional email address such as info@mydomain.com.au. This looks good for guests and it saves a lot of trouble if you change Internet Service providers. Never use mymotel@bigpond.com and anyone with a gmail email address looks very suspicious.
  • Better results with Search Engines. It will never hurt to have both the groups website listing and your own listing. The more you build up a direct marketing; the better your business will do in a competitive environment.
  • One Day you’ll leave Choice Hotels and when you have your own website the loss of Comfort Inn marketing won’t be as harsh. Sure there are always advantages of being a part of a group, but like anything it costs a lot and there are trade offs. Not only that, but sometimes the Groups give members notice that they are changing them to new branding such as EconoLodge and not everyone wants to change.

Maryborough Comfort InnThe Millers decided it was time to upgrade the website for Blue Shades. They wanted a fresher looking website that was easier to update and worked better with search engines.

Looking at options for a booking system, they decided to stop using ResOnline and switch to SiteMinder. Both options would integrate with the new website, but they felt the channel manager features of SiteMinder were better.

Blue Shades Motel has a lot to offer with accommodation, restaurant and conference facilities and features that make serve business travellers and guests seeking budget accommodation. The new website will provide all of these hotel amenities in an easy to understand marketing profile.

Having a website also reduces risk for Blue Shades Motel should they every leave Choice Hotels.
